Topology of Brandmarks
Project Goals
Create an identity for five different iconic locations on Auraria Campus. These identities must be symbolic and representitive of the selected buildings base on their outward exterior visual apperence.
One of each identities must be a:
- wordmark
- letterform
- emblem
- pictorial
- abstraction
Locations:
1. Plaza
2. Kenneth King Academic & Performing Arts Center (King Center)
3. P.E. / Events Center
4. Saint Cajetan’s Center
5. Ninth Street Historic District / 9th Street Park
Plaza Building
The Plaza Building is located northeast of the King Center and southeast of the Tivoli. It is home to many curriculums in relations to medical studies, such as psychology.
It also houses the Health Center, which according to their website:
The Health Center at Auraria is a tri-institutional entity that provides medical services to all students, faculty and staff of the Auraria Campus. We are committed to caring for each member of this diverse community with sensitivity and respect, cognizant of the cultural and interpersonal aspects of good health care.We provide easily accessible, high quality medical and health education services that involve each individual in all aspects of his or her health care.
Some of its defining architectural features are geometrically angular with several public art installations.
King Center
The King Center is a modern performing arts complex located on the Auraria Campus in downtown Denver. It houses six performing arts spaces within:
- Concert Hall
- Recital Hall
- Courtyard Theatre
- Three permanently assigned production studios
With the inclusion of various support spaces, the facility has over 180,000 square feet dedicated to the education and development of students in the performing arts. The King Center, because of its six performing arts spaces, can support many forms and sizes of entertainment, from theatrical performances to large choral ensembles or small master classes.

Event Center
The Event Center is the recreation facility for the Auraria Campus. The Gymnasium can accommodate up to 2700 people, making it ideal for a distinguished speaker or symposium. The Lobby can accommodate a large group of 250, but is also well suited for recreational activities or meetings. The Green Room overlooks the gym in the loft area and is suitable for business meetings, banquets, and fundraisers.
The fitness needs of the students and facilities can be fullfilled with the swimming pool and weight room.

Saint Cajetan’s Center
A Spanish Colonial church built in 1925, St. Cajetan’s once served as the hub of the Auraria neighborhood’s Spanish-speaking community until 1973.
This landmark church is now a multi-purpose event center featuring a main hall with a large stage and is suited for a wide variety of events, including weddings, lectures, banquets, and fundraisers.

9th Street Park
The historic 9th Street Park contains many victorian era style buildings that have been restored to serve as the campus offices. It caters and accomodates to organizations such as the Women Studies group and One Water One World.
